Salutations! I’m J.D. Moore, a content creator, a writer and a guy who is generally open to all new adventures. I’m a relatively new resident of Austin, currently seeking full-time employment in the South or Central Austin regions, particularly opportunities in the public sector.
Born and raised in Honolulu, I grew up with a passion for sports and for reporting. I landed my first internship at 16, where I monkeyed around in KHON‘s sports department, covering golf tournaments, Rainbow Warriors football and anything else I was allowed to do. After moving to Texas, I started getting passionate about local government, serving on advisory boards and assisting in the campaigns of local judges and city councilors.
I made the best decision of my life at 18 when I chose to attend TCU to study journalism and political science at the Bob Schieffer School of Journalism. During my time there, I was an editor of the school student media conglomerate TCU 360, an intern at WFAA-TV, and a freelancer for Sirius XM Radio.
After graduating from TCU, I spent eight months in Kerrville at The Kerrville Daily Times before realizing that I really wanted to be in the same city as the woman I wanted to marry. I left for Victoria, Texas, to work at Advocate Digital Media as a video producer and be with my now-wife, Mary. She’s pretty amazing.
We moved to Austin in August 2016, and now, I’m open to the next big adventure. When I find spare time, I’m often trying new craft beers, building things in my garage, (poorly) playing one of my electric guitars or (even more poorly) trying to improve my golf swing.
But honestly, if we’re going to be real, I’m probably trying to get a picture with your dog.
